Full Job Description

ERM are seeking a Principal EIA Consultant for our Onshore Renewables & Infrastructure team within Capital Project Delivery. You'll be providing expert environmental consultancy services to internal and external clients, as well as leading the work of more junior team members. You'll lead environmental inputs for planning applications ranging from screening and scoping to environmental appraisals and large-scale EIA projects, as well as post planning condition discharge.

In this role you will project manage complex projects including but not limited to onshore wind, solar, battery storage and grid connection. From time to time you'll also work alongside our Marine team on Offshore projects, having the opportunity to develop your skills in this area.

You'll navigate projects through licencing and consenting processes including NSIP/DCO, provide strategic advice to clients, and ensure that projects are delivered to schedule and budget. You will maintain and enhance existing client relationships, as well as developing business with new clients, and will represent the company at client meetings, conferences and events.

  • Degree qualified in an environmental discipline

  • Extensive work experience in similar roles in either a consulting, regulatory or industry environment

  • Expert understanding of environmental impact assessments

  • Extensive experience drafting screening and scoping reports, technical reports, and environmental assessment chapters

  • A track record in the consenting of projects including experience in consulting with planning authorities, regulators, and stakeholders, and of navigating the Development Consent Order process for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects

  • Project and programme management experience

  • Experience in conducting/managing stakeholder and regulator meetings, and preparing materials to support consultation

  • Chartered or working towards chartered status (i.e. IEMA)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
