Full Job Description

As a Principal Systems Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our Marine Engineering & Systems (ME&S) business unit, working on our exciting new Marine Nuclear Infrastructure project.

Day-to-day, you'll be responsible for defining, managing and verifying requirements, and ensuring that all project requirements achieve their acceptance criteria for our new Marine Nuclear infrastructure project.

  • Own and deliver on the Requirements Management process for the project by understanding and eliciting the requirements from our customer.

  • Define and agree acceptance methodologies for all requirements.

  • Take ownership of delivering all Verification & Validation (V&V) activities.

  • Use your knowledge and experience to provide input into various design reviews.

  • Provide systems engineering guidance to the wider project team.


  • This role is full time, 36 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2-3 days in the office based at Rosyth, Fife and 3-4 days working from home.

    Essential experience of the Principal Systems Engineer
  • Previous experience within the Civil Nuclear or Marine Nuclear from an infrastructure perspective would be highly beneficial.

  • Proven experience in Requirements Management and acceptance of complex systems

  • Experience of using requirements management tools (e.g. DOORS)

  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles


  • Qualifications for the Principal Systems Engineer
  • Degree level qualification in STEM subject (Science/Technology/Engineering/Maths) or equivalent industry / armed forces experience


  • Security Clearance
    The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC), Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) and Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
