Contract Duration: Temporary Maternity Cover until 04/01/2026 or the earlier return of the Post Holder.

Role Purpose

To provide effective Pastoral leadership within a school. To support pupils on their journey towards appropriate learning outcomes. The post holder will be responsible for teaching assigned classes, as well as having whole school responsibilities for Pastoral care.

Subject to the policies of the school and the council the duties of principal teachers are to perform such tasks as the headteacher shall direct. These should give reasonable regard to overall teacher workload related to:
1. All duties related to teaching of assigned classes within the curriculum *
2. Assessing, recording and reporting on work of pupils
3. Preparing pupils for examination and assisting with their administration
4. Providing advice and guidance to pupils on issues related to their education.
5. Participating in issues relating to school planning, raising achievement and attainment and individual review
6. Responsibility for the leadership, good management and strategic direction of colleagues
7. Curriculum development and quality assurance within the school and across the learning community
8. Contributing to the development of school policy in relation to the behaviour management of pupils
9. The provision of advice, support and guidance to colleagues
10. Responsibility for the leadership, good management and strategic direction of pastoral care within the school.
11. Implementation of whole school policies dealing with guidance issues, pastoral care, assessment and pupil welfare
12. Working in partnership with colleagues, parents, other specialist agencies and staff in other schools as appropriate.
* such tasks should not routinely include those outlined in Appendix 2.6 of SNCT Handbook Part 2
