An opportunity is offered for a suitably qualified and experienced teacher to apply for the role of Principal Teacher Support at the Castle Douglas High School. As a member of the extended leadership team, the role of the Principal Teacher is, within their area of responsibility, to develop, improve, manage and support the school to the benefit of the pupils, their parents and the communities the school serves, through pursuing the objectives and implementing policies set by the Headteacher and Dumfries and Galloway Education Children’s’ service, under the overall direction of the Director Skills, Education and Learning.

 

Castle Douglas High School is looking to recruit a talented and committed Principal Teacher Support who is willing to apply new learning with enthusiasm. They should be confident and able to demonstrate they are an experienced and innovative practitioner who will take on a lead role in supporting young people and assist in the leadership of aspects of school life. They should have a sound and detailed knowledge and understanding of the relevant aspects of Curriculum for Excellence 2-18 as well as possessing good leadership skills to deliver on improvement priorities and be able to demonstrate they have a commitment to the vision, values and core priorities in the development of education, teaching and learning which meets the needs of all pupils.

 

The successful applicant will lead and manage within the role of Principal Teacher Support. They will support and deliver high quality educational experiences and contribute to the positive management of the school by modelling the school aims and values to maximise and recognise the attainment and achievement of all of our young people.

 

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.

 

 

 

 

Requirements

A significant relocation package of up to £5000 may be available to the successful candidate (Permanent positions only). Please see attached guidance for further information.

 

Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector.

 

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

 

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
