Full Job Description

Are you passionate about ensuring value for money and sustainability in the energy sector? Our leading public sector client is seeking a dynamic Procurement Manager. Your role is pivotal in transforming procurement, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and robust supplier/contract performance management.

400-480 per day (inside IR 35), initial 6-month contract.

Hybrid working (currently 1 day per week in the office). Glasgow or London.

Candidates must be immediately available and meet the essential criteria detailed below.

Responsibilities:

Procurement:

  • Collaborate with Senior Procurement Partners to support directorates in understanding procurement requirements.
  • Manage procurement process for contracts, ensuring optimal value for money and compliance.
  • Provide guidance to enhance procurement effectiveness and mitigate risks.

Contract Management:

  • Support segmentation processes and review spend against contracts.
  • Analyse supplier suitability and negotiate contract terms to align with directorate requirements.

Development:

  • Contribute to projects to enhance procurement and mentor procurement officers.

Outputs and Deliverables:

  • Execute procurement and contract management policies effectively.
  • Ensure compliance and value for money.
  • Support directorate planning and embed procurement awareness.

Essential Criteria:

  • CIPS professional body membership at level 4 or working towards it.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience independently running tenders.
  • Expertise in best practice procurement, tendering, and contract management.
  • Strong understanding of procurement regulations and excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent business understanding with ability to communicate effectively, negotiate and influence.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise effectively according to business needs as well as enhanced commercial acumen and financially aware.
  • Proficient in Excel and Word.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in public sector procurement.
