Full Job Description

We're currently recruiting an experienced and reliable Production Operative to join our team in Glasgow. So, what's the mission? You will work as part of our manufacturing team to carry out all duties relating to the efficient manufacturing of high-quality products, using all operational techniques and creating the UK's leading roof tiles. You will be required to use manual handling tools, including the use of powered hand tools, machinery, and mechanical handling equipment. You'll work in an environment where safety, quality, waste, and OEE targets are the norm! What are the mission-critical skills? Safety and environment:

  • Act responsibly and safely in the workplace at all times to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Follow all site rules.
  • Following safe working practices and procedures including timely reporting of accidents and emergencies.
  • Recognising hazards and risks and reporting them, supporting the development of safe systems of work from risk assessments and implement safety behavioural methods of work.
  • Minimise waste, recycle where appropriate and comply with the Company Environmental Policy.
  • Quality:
  • Ensure production complies with product specification and appearance acceptable to customer.
  • Report any production issues immediately to minimise quality problems.
  • Communication:
  • Be pro-active, work with other members of the team as required.
  • Record information as and when required, feeding back information and issues to the senior operator and shift manager.
  • Be available for training in key areas.
  • Attend daily production meetings and other meetings as appropriate.
  • Operational Performance:
  • Participate in Lean improvements and techniques on the line.
  • Operate all sections of plant to ensure a fully flexible workforce.
  • Raise ideas of improvements to the senior operator and shift manager.
  • Work shifts as appropriate to suit the needs of the business.
  • Workplace Organisation:
  • Be responsible for all designated housekeeping and developing and maintaining standards for the line.
  • Participate in and help to improve the 5S standards in your designated area.
  • Provide encouragement to the Team.
  • A flexible approach to working requirements is expected to ensure adequate cover to meet production demands, this may require undertaking tasks that are out of your production area. At times colleagues may need to travel away from site for training or other requirements. A flexible approach to overtime working will be required Since the Process Operator will work closely with production machinery, it is expected that the successful applicant will be able to understand the fundamental workings of the plant. However, an aptitude for working with automatic production systems and man machine interfaces is essential.
