About Us:
School Yard Kitchen part of Silver Stag CIC group a social enterprise supporting communities in Scotland and Ghana. To do this we have a variety of commercial projects to generate surplus to aid our mission. These include; food and chocolate production where we use products from our partner in Ghana to deliver award winning jams, snacks and chocolate to vocational training, property management and maintenance, producing gift boxes, Scottish gifts and candles and running a highly successful commercial cookery school.
The Production Supervisor will be responsible for the safe & efficient running of the food production process as well as assisting management to ensure the production is satisfied for each order in order to maximise all labour resources & materials.
The successful Production Supervisor will be responsible for driving high standards throughout the manufacturing process to ensure it is ready to be audited at any time.
The successful Production Supervisor will:
- Support the Production Manager in delivering production goals & objectives whilst maintaining product quality.
- Ensure all Critical Control Points are adhered to
- Be motivated, positive & a real team player, committed to achieving all goals - personal, of the team & all company objectives
- Be accountable for the process KPIs & delivery performance
- Ensure a high level of service to external customers & across their own team & across the business, promoting a positive attitude at all times
- Be prepared to take on new challenges & adopt any changes
- Ensure adherence of H & S policy and regulations by the whole team as well as any company/departmental guidelines
The Role:
- Contribute to the entire production process and ensure all production targets are met
- In conjunction with Management identify ways in which any unmet production targets can be achieved in the most cost-effective way
- In conjunction with Management Review current production methods, identify how products can be made more efficiently, what elements of the line are reducing the throughput and how this can be overcome, and how new products can be produced
- Monitor product standards and having a sound knowledge of the quality control programmes implemented
- When required play a key role in production projects.
- Oversee the Stores Department but provide the Stock and Logistics Manager with autonomy to run the department
- Ensure that health and safety guidelines are followed at all times by factory operatives, and any other individual on the factory floor.
Key tasks
- To be responsible for achieving the daily production plans.
- To be responsible for achieving the daily productivity targets.
- To be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all equipment and machinery on site.
- To be responsible for maintaining the highest hygiene and housekeeping standards.
Key Accountabilities
- To contribute to a safe working environment exists for all employees in their operation
- To ensure standards of quality, food safety, hygiene and housekeeping within the production spaces meets the standards set out in the Group Health & Safety policy.
- Contribute to the various process within their factory operation to ensure that all trials run successfully and through to product launch.

Required Experience:
- Experience Production Supervisor from a food manufacturing (chilled food, ready meals, food to go) background
- HACAAP & Food Safety Trained (to Level 2/3)
- A strong communicator to people at all levels - building a strong cooperative working environment
- The ability to drive performance levels, line efficiencies & line utilisation by maximising the potential of people as well as plant & time available.
- Ability to work under pressure & to deadlines
- Comfortable to work ever-changing environment as the company continues its growth
Qualifications & Skills:
- Knowledge of HACCP, BRC and retail audit requirements
- Knowledge of food legislation standards
- Awareness of Health and Safety legislation and regulations
- Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate
