Wood is experiencing positive growth and have upcoming new and exciting opportunities. We are currently looking for a Project Controls Manager to be based in Aberdeen, Scotland. Job Objective: Supports the delivery of consistent outcomes across assigned portfolio of projects within a defined operating unit. Provides a clear and holistic view of the status of each project to the key stakeholders to aid timely decision making, maximize the return and add value to both the Client and Wood's business Multidisciplinary functional leader across all of project control within an assigned operating unit, or functional leader of a single project control discipline where this is of major operational importance to the business grouping, for example estimating in an operating unit which delivers a high volume of construction projects Resourcing: Tactical planning and resourcing of the project control function for the assigned operating unit, aiming to attract and develop required skills and maximise utilisation Project Control Governance, Compliance & Continuous Improvement: Implementation and monitoring of compliance against minimum standards within assigned operating unit Project Assurance: monitors data and makes interventions to ensure that projects which pose risk in terms of givebacks / value are mitigated before a threat to project delivery is realised. Supports and assures delivery excellence across assigned area. Responsible for functional management and development of project control resources and governance of project control practices and procedures. Has functional oversight of the performance of all project control work in their assigned area RESPONSIBILITIES Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for setting and implementing the local Project Control functional plan in line with the business grouping functional plan and ensure a proper communication around it.
  • Responsible for the management of the Project Control function across the operating unit which may include Planning & Scheduling, Post Tender Estimating, Cost Management, Risk analysis, Change control
  • Governance
  • Ensures all projects within remit comply with the set of procedures, process, guidelines, and templates which have been defined at the BU/global level
  • Responsible for identifying and auditing high risk projects across portfolio of projects, propose corrective action or axes of improvement. Ensures a follow up
  • Ensure that new or updated global / BU procedures, process, guidelines, and templates are embedded and integrated into local documentation
  • Ensure local business unit / project procedures issued are compliant with the global standards
  • Drive continuous improvement and collect good practice across projects and communicate them across the wider business
  • Resources
  • Identify current and future staffing needs for the function in the business grouping and implement appropriate internal and external resourcing plans, including internal development and succession planning
  • Ensure a robust organisation and communication of resource availability inside the operating unit and across other operating units
  • Responsible for recruitment and selection, performance management, skill development and competency assurance for project controls resources within designated operating unit
  • Participates in global project controls community of practice
  • Systems
  • Ensure project control systems are implemented and embedded in line with global strategy. Takes a lead role on systems training.

    ISCED Level 6 /Bachelors (minimum) or Level 7 /Masters (preferred) degree in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent professional experience., Advanced level of expertise across all disciplines of project controls, typically gained by a significant number of years industry experience within Project Control, including some experience leading and managing others
  • Good understanding of Project Management principles and techniques
  • Excellent understanding of Project Control principles and techniques
  • Must be fully conversant with manual and computerised business control applications and processes
  • Project experience including project types relevant to area of responsibility
  • Excellent understanding of Cost Control, Estimating, Change control, Risk analysis, Planning
