Full Job Description

We have a new opportunity for a Senior Project Development Manager to join our development team to deliver growth of the AMP portfolio, leading on the development of new project investments from initial discussion through to financial close. This is a senior level role which will play a key part in achieving our objectives.

The role will involve

Being a senior representative of the AMP business and presenting a high-quality impression of the AMP business at all times by exhibiting a sound knowledge of technology solutions and policy and having excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Managing and developing a portfolio of high value capital investment projects of approximately £100m in value

  • Taking projects from initial discussion through to financial close.

  • Working with colleagues across AMP (Engineering, Finance, Legal and Operations) and with external advisors to ensure that projects are fully investable with a manageable risk profile.

  • Developing business and investment cases to take to Investment Committee for projects that meet the AMP return on investment criteria.

  • Leading on the negotiation of strong commercial contracts for the sale of energy underpinned by high quality engineering solutions.

  • Leading the development and agreement of robust contracts with project delivery & O&M partners.

  • Establishing clear contracts for input energy / fuel requirements.

  • Managing the process for securing planning permission and any other statutory requirements for new project investments.

  • Ensuring that there is robust documentation in place for each project in relation to internal reporting, governance arrangements and project handover.

  • Identifying and mitigate project risks ensuring that senior management is kept fully abreast of risks, risk mitigations and any material changes in risk profiles associated with a project investment.

  • Developing relationships with new potential customers for AMP Low Carbon energy solutions to maintain and grow the project pipeline.

    With previous experience in a similar role, our successful candidate will demonstrate a thorough understanding of the investment decision making process and a desire to deliver real projects that drive CO2 savings along with the following knowledge, skills and experience -

  • A degree qualification in engineering/business/economics, or equivalent experience.

  • Able to draft and negotiate key contractual term sheets and principles and a good understanding of risk management and mitigation.

  • High quality communication skills - written, presentation, personal.

  • Excellent relationship management skills and ability to manage both internal and external stakeholders and customers.

  • A good understanding of the market opportunities and technology readiness levels for different decarbonisation solutions

  • Awareness of government policies and other drivers that support decarbonisation.

  • Knowledge of the Hydrogen Business Model and the HAR application process.

  • Experience of the development phase of low carbon energy solutions.

  • Experience of taking projects through the investment process and to financial close & operation.

  • Developing business cases and investment proposals for engineering project investments.

  • Financial modelling and energy project analysis.

  • Raising capital (debt / equity) for new projects.

  • Commercial experience associated with buying / selling of assets or businesses.
