Full Job Description

The Highland Partnership recognises the huge contribution made by unpaid carers in Highland; and it is keen to ensure that we are in a position to support these carers to feel willing and able to continue in their valuable and valued caring roles.

The Carers (Scotland) Act 2016 introduced new rights for unpaid carers and new duties for local councils and the NHS to provide support to carers.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to play a defining role in the implementation of this Act across North Highland.

The post holder will provide a key role in the development, implementation and review of all of NHS Highlands plans, policies and strategies relating to the support of unpaid Carers in Highland.

They will also support the collaboration between NHS Highland, Highland Council and partner agencies to ensure that carers services are provided in accordance with legislative requirements and best practice principles. The successful candidate will have evidenced they can enable / support carer engagement and be effective in the design, commissioning, delivery, monitoring, evaluation and review of carer strategies and carer support services.

The post-holder will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills to ensure a continued and strengthened interface between NHS Highland and the partner agencies it works with to deliver information, advice, advocacy and support services to carers in Highland.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
