The school currently has a role pf 376 pupils and in addition has 75 pupils enrolled at our Eliburn nursery. The school has 14 classes and a small group setting for the provision of ASN early/first level pupils. A learning hub is utilised elsewhere in the school to support pupils with additional support needs and to support HWB. The School and ELC’s Senior Leadership Team consists of a Head Teacher, a Depute Head Teacher, a permanent Principal Teacher, one Acting Principal Teacher and one Acting part -time Principal Teacher to support PEF interventions and support for learning.
Over the past session, there has been a continued focus on health and wellbeing, literacy and numeracy in the context of data profiles. The school provides wider curriculum opportunities both inside and outside of school. We have a clear understanding of our school context and are working collectively to maximise our strengths and work on our areas for improvement to support learner’s wellbeing and to consistently provide high quality learning experiences and opportunities, which embrace all that we have learned. The Head Teacher alongside the senior Leadership team, has a clear vision of continuous improvement for the school. Peel staff at all levels, demonstrate strong collegiality, team work and commitment to improving outcomes for all learners.
The post holder will provide support for teachers and children to enhance experiences and achievement for children. They will undertake a range of support activities with regard to general supervision, safety, care and well-being of the children.
Requirements
The Post Holder will work with and support pupils within the mainstream classes. They will be part of the school team involved in implementing school strategies designed to improve pupil performance in the following areas:
- Transitions within the school and the local community
- Positive Relationships
- Progress in learning and attainment
Good communication skills are essential and you should enjoy working as part of a team. The post holder will work in partnership with all stakeholders within Peel Primary School to ensure a high quality student experience.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the West Lothian Council
This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC. SSSC stipulate you must submit your application within three months of your start date
