Full Job Description
Position: Quality Engineer
Role Overview: As a Quality Engineer, you will provide essential quality guidance to ensure the business complies with all relevant standards. You will support both the business and customers in all quality-related aspects, covering current and new production, while focusing on continuous improvement in quality, cost, and delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Health, Safety, and Environment: Ensure all activities and behaviours align with company health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
Customer Complaint Resolution: Manage all aspects of complaint resolution, including communication with customers and internal teams, root cause analysis (8D), and implementation of corrective actions.
Audit: Conduct internal audits to required standards (e.g., AS9100, NADCAP), support and host external audits and customer visits, and manage non-conformance reports and corrective actions.
Workshop Support: Lead MRB activities, interpreting drawings and standards, manage route cards and supporting documentation.
Supplier Quality: Support supplier audits and surveillance, manage complaints, communicate with suppliers, update the Approved Supplier List, and participate in the supplier selection process.
New Product Introduction (NPI): Oversee all quality aspects of NPI, including the use of tools like PPAP, FMEA, and APQP, produce First Article Inspection Reports, communicate with customers, resolve issues, and create route cards and supporting documentation.
Process Improvement: Conduct data analysis, select improvement activities, and lead the application of improvement tools such as Lean Six Sigma and RCA.
Quality Management System (QMS): Support the management and updating of the company QMS, ensuring all business activities comply with it.
Training: Provide training to colleagues and customers as needed.
Business Systems: Support the implementation, development, and use of company systems (e.g., CC database, Factory Master).
Skills & Attributes:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels internally and externally.
Ability to self-manage and prioritise workload.
A continuous improvement mindset with effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications & Experience:
Degree in an engineering or quality discipline, or relevant experience.
Preferred experience in defense or aerospace manufacturing.
