Anderson Knight has an exciting new opportunity to join our clients Technical team in a permanent role as a Quality First Line Manager. Our client is the UK’s largest supplier of confectionary products to UK retailers,

The QFLM role will be the first point of contact in the technical function and works closely with the Operations and Supply Chain function. You will be based within the factory with occasional desk work. You will focus on product quality, completion of audits, calibrations and investigations. This is a fast paced and varied role where the successful candidate will need to have excellent time management and organisational skills.

 

To be a success in this role, you will need a can-do attitude, be able to work as part of a team and demonstrate clear communication skills. You will have previous experience of working in a similar fast paced role or in the food processing/manufacturing industry. It would be an advantage if you possessed qualifications in Food Science, Technology/Nutrition however this is not essential. The successful candidate will have the ability to work autonomously, flexibly and pro-actively, taking ownership and accountability of roles and tasks, whilst building effective relationships with other departments.

You will be responsible for the front-line management of food safety and quality incidents as they arise, which involves dealing with holds, concessions, and near misses. You will ensure that investigations are conducted thoroughly, identifying the root causes and implementing corrective actions accordingly. You will also ensure that regular internal audits of the site's operations are conducted, covering areas such as CCPs, hygiene, documentation, GMP, foreign bodies, glass, PPE, and allergens.


You will be working closely with Operations, to investigate customer complaints to determine the root cause, providing feedback to the appropriate teams and implementing relevant corrective actions. You will also manage micro and nutritional databases, reporting, investigating, escalating, and resolving issues.

 

You will be responsible for carrying out routine quality assurance testing and monitoring throughput the manufacturing process to ensure information on product quality is continually fed back to the appropriate management teams. You will also ensure that processes and products throughout the factory and those leaving site comply with agreed specifications with regards to quality and food safety.

 

You will manage stock control for retained samples and conduct daily end-of-line taste panels on finished products, recording and reporting the results. You will carry out various tests, such as pH testing, allergen testing, ERH testing, weight control, check weighing, calibration, and verification. You will also assist the Quality Manager in maintaining the site's BRC certification and QMS including tasks such as metal detection investigations and managing the barcode verifier.

 

In the role will be required to work cross functionally therefore you will need excellent communication skills and be able to build positive relationships with key stakeholders including Operations.

• Have knowledge of BRC and Customers Codes of Practice

• Competent in MS Office, Word, Excel and Outlook

• An awareness of allergen controls

• Level 2 Food Hygiene (desirable but not essential)

• Level 2 HACCP (desirable but not essential

• Able to work on own initiative & excellent communication skills.
