Full Job Description
We are looking for Quantity Surveyor to join the UK's leading ground engineering and geotechnical contractor. As Quantity Surveyor you will be expected to be a situational leader on commercial and quantity surveying matters working alongside and mentoring other staff in Strata, the candidate will inform advise and work with colleagues in close collaboration with other disciplines to achieve the businesses requirements. The role will require the management of significant framework projects in high and lowlands and potentially other project works undertaken by strata in the UK. It would suit a candidate prepared to work in or close to the northern part of Scotland. What you'll be doing:
- Review project contract terms and tender / bid submissions and provide input into pricing strategy, qualifications and clarifications.
- Lead contract negotiations in accordance with the Company's contracting rules and ensure timely execution prior to commencement, seeking guidance from the Divisional Commercial Lead as needed.
- Maximise cash flow and manage post-contract Quantity Surveying functions, ensuring all contract entitlements are secured with timely notices, valuations, and billings - liaising with and managing own staff, colleagues and customers accordingly.
- Manage the financial and commercial performance of projects, forecast outcomes, and support achievement of financial goals, taking into account risk, opportunity and profitability.
- Manage customer invoicing and credit control, including recovery of aged debt.
- Ensure commercial project administration is understood and carried out by colleagues in the field to ensure all the businesses entitlements are secured.
- Advise and manage the interpretation of measurement rules, Works Information and specifications.
A relevant degree or professional qualification (RICS or CICES or similar) would be advantageous, along with relevant experience. - Proven ability as a commercial situational leader.
- Experienced practitioner / user of sector standard forms of contract including but not limited to NEC; NR; JCT. (NEC3 is essential)
- Experience of managing and working with others including admin and others that together cover all pre and post contract commercial requirements, ideally in a similar organisation or market sector.
- Proactive in working with customers, colleagues, and other stakeholders, with strong written communication skills to present information, ideas, concepts, and positions clearly and confidently.
- Highly proficient at using Microsoft office applications including but not limited excel; word; PowerPoint; teams; explorer; as well as web-based applications and ERPs.
- Ability to work with and lead the commercial team to commercialise all aspects of the business
- Possesses a rational, analytical, and objective approach to challenges, knowing when to direct, coach, support, or delegate. Other Requirements:
- Eligible to work and live in the UK.
- Flexibility to travel in the UK.
- A full driving licence, that is valid in the UK.
