Full Job Description

We are currently seeking a Quarry and Asphalt/ Concrete Plant Supervisor at our Shierglas site. We're looking for a proactive, hands-on person to join our team and as a Supervisor you'll have the autonomy to run your own site. You'll play a key part in our concrete and asphalt production within the area, keeping the site running smoothly to meet the needs of our local customers. If successful, you'll join a regional team and report into the Quarry Manager. You'll be working 48 hours a week Monday to Friday and occasional Saturday mornings, however we do ask for some flexibility to meet business demand.,

  • Responsible for daily running of concrete and asphalt plants
  • Reporting and closure of safety observations
  • Monitor stock levels and decision making to maintain critical stocks
  • Reporting defects and ordering critical spares, fuels and raw materials
  • Finished good stock counts
  • Managing staff to ensure production is achieved, basic maintenance completed and housekeeping in the quarry is maintained.
  • Work closely with other departments - Technical, Maintenance, etc.
  • Work with sales office to ensure orders are dispatched on time and timely reporting in the event of issues or stock problems
  • Proactive approach to quarry management - looking for issues before they occur
  • Manage / monitor and supervise all visitors and contractors working on site
  • Deputise for Quarry Manager in absence

    Experience in a similar role or environment such as asphalt, aggregates, concrete, cement, quarrying or mining
  • Hardworking, reliable, and professional individual, with good communication skills
  • NVQ Wheeled Loading Shovel licence is desirable
  • Experience of working in an environment where Health and Safety is paramount
  • Training will be given to candidates who can demonstrate the necessary skills and aptitude to take on this challenging role
