We have a vacancy for an enthusiastic Engineer to join the Radiation Technology Section of Radiotherapy Physics at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre.

The Centre operates thirteen Varian linear accelerators, equipped to very high specification such that a variety of highly specialized techniques are available including, SABR VMAT, total body irradiation (TBI), total skin electrons (TSE), many delivered using FFF technology. The successful candidate will be based at Gartnavel General Hospital, Glasgow but may be required to carry out some duties at the Lanarkshire Beatson satellite centre in Airdrie, Lanarkshire.

Requirements:

  • A Degree in Medical Technology, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or other relevant discipline is essential. An HNC/HND or equivalent qualifications in Applied Physics or Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalent degree will be accepted provided the knowledge, training and experience profile matches the requirements of the post.
  • Registration on the Register of Clinical Technologists (RCT) held by the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) is desirable.
  • Applicants should be able to demonstrate experience in the maintenance and quality assurance of medical linear accelerators.
