Our teams work collectively to ensure these valuable gifts are put to best use, but with 6,500 people in the UK currently waiting for an organ donation, we still have lots of work to do. 


Joining the Organ Donation and Transplantation team, you will play a crucial role in saving the lives of thousands. Overseeing the work of the Regional Administrator, you will manage and develop the administrative processes and procedures associated with organ donation in the Falkirk region. From setting up these processes to maintaining the smooth running of our capabilities, you will be at the forefront of our work, particularly as you will be interacting with families who are considering or have already donated their loved ones’ organs. Applying your meticulous organisational skills to our operations, you will also develop the skills of the team and provide induction programmes for new staff. Supporting our regional administrative staff, your work will range from attending meetings and organising events, to taking responsibility for the archiving of data and implementing KPI’s for the department. 


Main duties of the job

The Organ Donation Team Scotland, requires significant administrative support at regional level. You will work closely with the Regional Management Teams In this role you will be required to: -


• Manage and provide leadership to the Organ Donor Regional Administrator accountable for the management and development of processes and procedures associated with the setting up, maintenance and review of regional organ donation administration in line with NHSBT core values and behaviours, policies and procedures. 

•  Engage with key internal and external stakeholders (including relatives and family members) to ensure effective administration and organisation is integral to the Organ Donation Service.

• The day-to-day management of administrative support and assistance to Regional Managers, Team Managers and Specialist Nurse Organ Donation within the wider Teams

•  Supporting the Regional Organ Donation Collaboratives, with regard to delivering, co-ordinating activities, reporting and administration.


Your base location will be Falkirk. 


About You

Experience and Knowledge 

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook in order to produce reports, emails, letters, spreadsheets, presentations. 

• Experience in an administrative role, for example data inputting and processing, drafting correspondence, reports, on call rotas and administrative support systems

• Experience of working with, monitoring, developing, working and amending standard operating procedures

• Experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), or equivalent Systems 

• Experience of using systems to produce reports and correspondence which are timely, professional and accurate.


Qualifications and Training

• Higher level education/HND level qualification or equivalent workplace experience.

• Post qualifying work-based experience to demonstrate developed understanding and knowledge to enable equivalent degree level working in terms of the analysis, documentation development and presentation to a range of audiences.

• Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD)
