Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen at our small animal practice in Corstorphine, Edinburgh, for an enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly and welcoming clinic. We may consider a final year SVN for the right candidate as well. Based on the busy Corstorphine Retail Park in the Pets at Home store, we can offer a fantastic location to work, as well as boasting some state-of-the-art equipment including digital and dental x-ray, ultrasound - we carry out our own heart scans and advanced medical work ups, multi-parameter, operating theatre, prep room, separate dog, cat and isolation wards and plenty of onsite parking. You will be joining an existing team of 6 Vets, 3 RVN's, 1 SVN, 1 cleaner and 4 reception staff with several of our staff members having been with vets for pets for over 10 years. By joining us you will have the opportunity to use your nursing skills to your full potential, admitting/discharging patients, patient prep, monitoring anaesthetics, recovering, in-patient care, nurse consults, the occasional stitch up and triage.

To apply you will have great customer service skills, be down-to-earth and enthusiastic, with a genuine interest in animal welfare. Our team fosters a supportive and collaborative approach to patient care and our colleagues. With this in mind, we welcome applications from RVN's with varying levels of experience, including those who have recently qualified or SVN's who are almost qualified as an RVN.

Pets just see people. They aren't biased and they don't discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves so even if your skills and experience don't perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!

This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week over 4 days with 1 in 3 weekends. Salary £24,000 to £30,000. In return, we can offer you:

  • Competitive salary range
  • No OOH or overnight in patient checks
  • Generous CPD (including funded Certificates)
  • Social events and emphasis on wellbeing
  • Contributary pension schemes
  • Paid RCVS memberships
  • Exclusive company and high street discounts and rewards
  • If you share our passion for delivering outstanding pet healthcare and great customer service, then we would love to hear from you!, In return, we offer such benefits as 20% discount at the Vet Group, Pets at Home and the Groom Room, access to discounts and cashbacks, in-house career development opportunities, pension and holiday allowance. We want our colleagues to be as diverse as our clients. Our teams are inclusive and celebrate difference so if you meet our role requirements, we'd love to hear from you.
