Full Job Description

To maintain the school premises to a high standard of cleanliness; required to clean all rooms, including classrooms, offices, toilets, social spaces, staircases, and all other areas in use. Duties Duties & Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for cleaning certain areas of the school site (these areas may vary from time to time to suit the business needs) as allocated by the cleaner in charge.
  • To use cleaning materials as instructed by the Chargehand.
  • To operate cleaning machinery in cleaning soft and hard surfaces, e.g. vacuum cleaners & scrubber driers.
  • To maintain confidentiality in respect of school-related matters and to prevent disclosure of confidential and sensitive information.
  • Vacuum cleaning hard and soft floors.
  • Spot cleaning of spillages.
  • Cleaning furniture, ledges, pipes, paintwork, doors and door glass, windowsills, skirtings, radiators, walls and any other surfaces within the allocated area.
  • Emptying and cleaning waste and recycling bins.
  • Cleaning toilets including sanitary fittings and surrounds.
  • Mopping, scrubber drying or hard floor surfaces.
  • Replenishing supplies in toilets and classrooms, etc.
  • Checking and closing windows, switching off lights after work and locking doors.
  • Reporting of misuse or vandalism.
  • During holiday periods when the school is closed, cleaning is undertaken throughout the school. This may include scrubbing floors, removing chewing gum from floors, under desks, etc., high level dusting, wall washing, and moving furniture on wheels to deep clean classrooms, etc.
  • Undertake any additional cleaning duties as directed, by the Cleaning Area Supervisor or Soft Services Manager.
  • All defects/hazards must be immediately reported to the Chargehand.
  • To ensure that all Health & Safety procedures are followed, in accordance with company policies.

    BICSc certification to an appropriate level (preferred but not essential as full training will be given).
  • Experience in a cleaning environment,(preferred but not essential as full training will be given).
