Full Job Description
Applications are sought for a Post-doctoral Research Fellow to work with Professor Tom Rice conducting research for an AHRC-DFG funded project entitled "Relocating Filmstrips, Remapping Europe". The successful applicant will work as part of a collaborative European project team, alongside the two PIs (Professor Tom Rice, University of St Andrews and Professor Vinzenz Hediger, Goethe University, Frankfurt), a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at Goethe University Frankfurt (30 months) and institutional partners in the UK and Germany. The primary duties will include: researching, and mapping, filmstrip materials in UK-based archives; producing scholarship (including conference presentations, a peer-reviewed article and book chapter); and co-organising project events and collaborative, public-facing initiatives (including a conference, workshop and virtual exhibition).
The successful applicant will have (or be near to completion of) a PhD in Film/Media Studies or a related discipline. This is a full-time post working 36.25 hours per week available on a fixed term contract for 30 months, starting 1 May 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.
