Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Department of Agriculture and Land-based Engineering. We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join SRUC's Beef and Sheep Research Centre. The role will provide technical support to research activities. The post holder will play an important and exciting role in supporting current and future project activity.
Key areas of technician responsibility will include:
- Day to day care of livestock (cattle/sheep) maintaining high welfare standards.
- Data/sample collection, storage and management.
- Operate farm machinery as required (e.g., telehandler/tractor).
- Provide technical instruction and advice to colleagues, students and/or customers as required.
- Ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the BSRC including contribution to weekend, holiday and emergency cover rotas as required.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of an HND (or working at SCQF Level 8) in a relevant subject, agriculture or animal science along with a strong practical agricultural experience.

Experimental planning/implementation.
Operate and maintain a range of research/farm equipment.
Investigate and devise technical solutions to a range of practical problems to facilitate effective learning, teaching and support services.
