Full Job Description
As the Rigs Engineer, your key purpose is to support the electrical safety test engineers in their evaluations for Intertek's global client base. Working within the Intertek Electrical UK team, the Rigs/Support engineer would work closely with the safety team to build test rigs and set-up facilities to for testing to meet specific requirements of the applicable test standards. The role will also involve working closely with the facilities department., You will be working within the Intertek Electrical UK team, the Rigs/Support engineer would work closely with the safety team to build test rigs and set-up facilities to for testing to meet specific requirements of the applicable test standards. The role will also involve working closely with the facilities department. Key activities:
- Specify and agree testing regime and test methods for testing the EUT (Equipment Under Test), in conjunction with Test Engineers.
- Design physical rig and testing system equipment (PLC controllers, interface boxes, heating cabinets, switch actuators etc) including CAD drawings.
- Build rigs and testing system equipment.
- Commission and fully test system set-up with EUT.
- Fully document all aspects of the above process.
- Assist Test Engineers with other test set-ups.
- Provide updates to management
- Ensure test rigs are built to safe standard and within set timescales.
- Provide technical support to the business
- Attend internal meetings
Essential: - Relevant Electrical/Mechanical formal qualifications
- Practical hands-on workshop skills (Fitting, turning, milling, welding, etc)
- Use of CAD software
- Good IT Skills, experience with excel, word and data retention systems.
- Experience of working in accordance with a Quality Management System
- Ability to communicate effectively with key stake holders. Desirable:
- Background in mechanical/electrical engineering
- Experience and knowledge of pneumatics, PLC programming, electronics, Woodwork & plumbing.
- Electrical safety.
- Experience of electrical safety standards.
- Experience working in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory
