Full Job Description

Are you looking to work for a very well respected Law firm with a beautiful office in Edinburgh. Our client has a new opportunity for a Risk & Compliance Manager to join their busy Team.


What you’ll do

  • Overall responsibility for the day-to-day operational management and workload of the Risk & Compliance team.
  • Developing and implementing a firm wide risk and compliance strategy, managing compliance with applicable legal and regulatory obligations. 
  • Assist in formulating the strategy, vision, and values of the risk & compliance function.
  • Making sure staff are aware of their obligations under any terms and conditions under which the firm is authorised by the Law Society of Scotland (LSS) and other relevant bodies such as the SRA, ensuring everyone in the Firm operates in compliance with all statutory or regulatory obligations applicable to the delivery of legal services. 
  • Monitor and ensure the Firm’s compliance policies and procedures remain robust and compliant and also facilitate best practice.
  • Provide support to the Data Controller in respect of data protection/GDPR compliance and will act as alternate for the Head of Risk & Compliance as a member of key groups including those relating to Financial Crime, Cyber Security and Data Governance. 

What you’ll need

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience within the legal sector at a senior Compliance and/or Risk role.
  • Hold a Risk & Compliance qualification. 
  • Experience of implementing risk and compliance policies and processes within a legal or other professional or regulated service business.
  • A knowledge of the LSS practice rules would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills with
  • Experience of critical thinking and problem solving are essential to the role.
  • Commercial awareness is key along with previous people management experience.
