Hourly rate of pay: £18.70 - £20.91

Days and Hours of Work:
Monday - Friday, working times to be confirmed.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Roads Officer to join a flexible team of professionals in delivering a high quality service within East Lothian Council Roads Services team. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who has knowledge and experience in design, inspection, and maintenance of a road network.

You will play a key role in maintaining the quality and standards in the maintenance of roads and related infrastructure within East Lothian. This will in part include topographical surveys and inspections, to facilitate the preparation of designs, the production of drawings using computer aided design (CAD ), prepare contract documentation using the NEC suite of contracts, undertake CDM (2015) designer duties, which include production of pre-construction information. You will also be required to assess, review, prioritise and prepare works orders, and supervise works on site by the internal labour force and or external contractors ensuring works are completed in accordance with contract documentation and best practice.

The candidate will need to be confident with good verbal and written communication skills who can quickly establish good working relationships. You will also need to be IT proficient as digital technology is used daily as part of the role. You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team of Technical staff and will engage with a wide and diverse audience ( Technical and non-Technical) as well as members of the public.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
Educated to HNC/SVQ Level 2 in Civil Engineering or related discipline and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.

Driving Licence
As the duties of this role require you to effectively travel to successfully undertake the full remit of the role, you must hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle.*
