Full Job Description

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

Tayside Nutrition and Dietetic Service currently has eleven  rotations across a range of specialist services including Acute, Community, Weight Management, Mental Health, Renal, Medicine for the Elderly and Paediatrics. The duration of each rotation is approximately 12 months depending on the start date. The rotational model provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience, develop knowledge and skills in a range of clinical areas and has been designed to offer optimum scope for career progression.

We are currently seeking a dietitian with good communication and interpersonal skills. The post holders will begin their rotation in the acute hospital setting.

The Tayside Nutrition & Dietetic Service promotes collaborative working across all our teams. This enables and encourages the development and implementation of pathways, standards and innovative practice. It also allows for extensive peer support and opportunities for professional development.

We are committed to the training of dietetic students, medical students and other healthcare professionals.  Leadership and clinical supervision will be provided. Newly qualified dietitians are supported to work through the Flying Start NHS Programme in their first year of practice. All applicants will require to be registered with the Health Care Professions Council prior to starting in post.

Hours of Work 37.0 Monday to Friday

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.

Internal Applicants written approval must be sought from your line manager prior to applying for this secondment.  You will be required to bring this if shortlisted for interview.

Applicants interested in these posts are encouraged to contact:

Alison Campbell, Service Lead, Hospital Dietetic Services, alison.campbell6@nhs.scot

This will also provide an opportunity to learn more about our rotational scheme and to find out where services are based throughout Tayside.

Short-listed applicants will be contacted by email.   Please check your emails regularly, including your junk/spam folder.
