Full Job Description

Full Time or Part Time, Permanent Positions 47 hours per week
Salary scale £92,677 to £104,468 per annum (pro rata)

With eight GPs having joined the team, we are continuing to build on recent successful recruitment and further expand the team.  We are seeking applications from qualified GPs with interest in working within a developing, forward-thinking Practice.

Based in Mid Ross in the Scottish Highlands, Alness and Invergordon Medical Group has an overall population of 13,500 patients and is situated within easy commuting distance of the city of Inverness. The Practice is based within modern premises on the Invergordon County Community Hospital site and in the neighbouring town of Alness.  Located on the northern shores of the Cromarty Firth, this is an area that has recently been selected to host one of Scotlands first green freeports. This is an exciting time for the local area with the winning bid helping to support growth and regeneration.

A typical day includes 10 to 12 X 15 minute appointments per session. We are committed to a work life balance and have embraced the longer appointment times and the opportunity this affords for us to care for our patients. A normal working week would have a requirement for regular on site working, though some hybrid working may be considered.

Within the team we have a range of special interests including palliative care, lifestyle medicine, medical technology and medical education.  We have been working closely with Medical Education Colleagues to develop and embed education and training within the practice; and have recently appointed an Education Lead from within the GP team to develop this further.

The Practice has a fantastic wider team including Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nursing and Health Care Assistants; alongside the extended multidisciplinary team including Pharmacotherapy, First Contact Physiotherapy, Primary Care Mental Health Workers and Community Link Workers (who specialise in social prescribing). The practice has made strong links with High Life Highland to work together to establish a GP Movement and Activity Programme.  Together with the support of our administration team we strive to ensure there is plenty of opportunity to share ideas and take them forward.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
