Full Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity to join Scottish Widows' Investment Operations Data Analytics team as a Scientific Advisor within our Chief Investments Office. This is a varied role where you'll be responsible for supporting the investment team with independent insight and advice on scientific issues, ensuring policy and decision-making is underpinned by science, rigorous evidence and sound analysis to help advise solutions supporting our customers. You'll work collaboratively with a wide group of colleagues across Scottish Widows bringing your passion for statistical analysis to support the data & analytics function in the design of analytical and predictive data modelling. We're looking for you to come from an academic or research-based background and have a passion and interest across multiple subject areas covering (amongst others) physics, chemistry, biology, electronics and behavioural statistics. What you'll be doing:
- Consuming, analysing and summarising publicly available research and academic literature supporting the team with independent insight.
- Providing advice, challenge and oversight to senior leaders on areas of scientific enquiry.
- Contributing to debate on scientific subject matter with investment impact, including areas of environmental and social policy.
- Working alongside our data function to test and measure consumer behaviour patterns and design future research pathways.
Experience of translating and synthesising research findings across a broad range of quantitative and qualitative disciplines. - Understanding of statistical techniques associated with hypothesis testing and predictive modelling.
- Tight-knit collaboration and communication skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and accurately.
- Experience in building strong networks across organisations.
- You'll be familiar with the peer-review research processes and credible academic publications.
