Full Job Description

The shift pattern for this post is 4 on / 4 off working a 12 hour shift pattern 7am 7pm then 7pm 7am

An exciting opportunity exists within the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital to be part of the Security & Helipad Team and play a role in ensuring the provision of key support services at this unique and challenging time. The scope and range of some of the duties are listed below, but this list is not exhaustive:

  • The post holder will be part of a team that provide a flexible, responsive Security & Helipad service to the Hospital campus, comprising of approximately 1940 beds, with a large volume of multiple occupancy & multiple discipline wards and departments including grounds and car park locations.
  • Provision of Helipad attendance and all associated Health & Safety checks and duties, with approximately 400 landings per annum.
  • Provide security presence within QEUH campus and monitor and operate CCTV equipment as required and help minimize breaches in security and ensure the safety of patients, staff and visitors.
  • Carry out security patrols within hospital buildings/grounds ensuring that identified boundaries are adhered to and report any health and safety incidents or near misses and ensure that they are recorded appropriately.
  • Provide written reports and statements of breaches in security to line management and police.
  • Issuing keys to staff and obtaining signatures, allowing staff access to closed/locked security doors ensuring identity is checked and confirmed in accordance with the agreed procedures.
  • Lost & found property recording & storage
  • Respond to site fire & intruder alarms actuations and personal attack alarms
  • The post holder is required to work as part of a team to deliver a high quality service as directed by NHSGG & Clyde polices and standard operating procedures which are monitored by senior staff.
  • Duties can vary from time to time and requires the post holder(s) to be flexible and willing to meet the demands of the service and be prepared to work in any area as requested by the Security & Helipad Manager & Facilities Managers.
  • There will be the requirement of 1 member of staff on duty in each team to take the lead as the duty officer for the duration of the shift when responding to helipad landings.

This role will work closely with other Facilities services, both locally and corporately to support service delivery and security across the campus. The preferred candidate will have knowledge and practical operational experience on a wide range of non clinical administrative and support service functions, along with experience in conflict management and de-escalation techniques. 

You must have the ability to be self-motivated and have a can do, problem solving attitude and you must have the ability to respond to unpredictable/emergency situations although you will receive any essential training required to carry out this role during your induction.
