Full Job Description

  • Supporting and where appropriate acting as a Lead for major projects in the energy (predominantly renewables) sector and other major planning applications in Scotland, as well as supporting the delivery of work in England and Wales.
  • Coordinating and managing multidisciplinary teams working on planning and/or EIA projects, including confidently discussing and resolving complex assessment issues and effectively managing project programmes.
  • Supporting and where appropriate acting as a Lead for the delivery of feasibility studies, environmental reviews, and documentation for colleagues across the Stephenson Halliday business.
  • Providing competent and reliable advice on planning matters, ensuring work is undertaken diligently and meets any statutory requirements.
  • Leading and supporting the production of proposals and tenders, as well as practice promotion.

    Degree or post graduate level qualified in a relevant discipline and, preferably qualified in Town Planning or a related environmental subject.
  • Full membership of RTPI (or working towards attaining this), Membership of IEMA, Environmental Practitioner (REnvP) or Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) is desirable not essential.
  • An excellent knowledge of the planning process including the current methods, legislation, techniques and guidance which direct the services we provide.
  • A good knowledge of managing projects - including a detailed understanding of financial management, programme management and quality control.
  • Eligible to drive in the UK.
  • Experience working in the Energy, Renewables or Minerals sectors is desirable but not essential and other experience will be considered.

This role invites applicants from Scotland, or willing to re-locate. It is based on a Hybrid working model nominally based in our network of offices. The role is offered on a full time, permanent basis but is open to negotiation in respect of contracted hours and working pattern.
