Full Job Description
Under supervision, a practicing healthcare professional who assists Audiologists in a range of patient care and clinical duties, both adult and paediatric patients. Offers telephone advice to patients. Carries out routine tasks in hearing aid repair clinics, including hearing aid provision, taking ear mould impressions and adaptations within departmental protocols. Provides auxiliary support to Paediatric ENT clinics, including setting up and organising the clinic rooms. Assesses and monitors patient reactions during testing at Paediatric Audiology clinics and provides Administrative support within the Audiology Department., Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence. From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings. NHS Lanarkshire will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer. If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Lanarkshire is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so.
- SVQ 111 in health or social care or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of clinical aspects of Audiology service.
- The post-holder will be provided with a practical training programme.
- An ability to work unsupervised and also as part of a team.
- To have an understanding of local service protocols and to work within defined parameters.
- Continue to undertake study/training opportunities that will assist in providing a high standard of care in the profession and to maintain a professional C.P.D. portfolio.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Good understanding of the need for confidentiality and patient privacy.
- Flexible, enthusiastic and well organised.
- To have IT skills and be familiar with Word, Excel.
- Car driver with a full UK/EU/EEA licence the ability to travel throughout NHS Lanarkshire.
