Full Job Description

  • BIM management and leadership – working with project managers and technical leads to devise, document, implement and maintain effective BIM Execution Plans for our projects;Â

  • Working within the Autodesk or Bentley environments undertaking modelling for civil engineering projects typically involving new bridges, bridge strengthening and remedial works, railway station enhancements and general civil structures;

  • Leading the production of high quality and complex 3D models and drawings for a range of clients including Network Rail, civil engineering contractors, local authorities and Transport Scotland;Â

  • Working in a Common Data Environment, typically Projectwise;

  • Supporting bid managers in developing fee estimates for the modelling and information management elements of work packages;Â

  • Mentoring and guiding apprentices and junior technicians to develop their skills and careers;Â

  • Assurance of quality – checking the work of others and providing feedback;Â

    A fundamental part of this is respecting each person’s differences and striving to meet their needs.Â, Recognised qualification in Civil / Structural Engineering, typically HNC/HND, BTech or NVQ level 3 or above;

  • Be proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD/Civil 3D/Revit and/or Bentley AECOsim/MicroStation/OpenBridge;

  • Experience of delivering UK transport infrastructure projects, especially bridges;

  • Proficient in reinforced concrete detailing and scheduling;Â

  • The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all internal and external stakeholders;

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment;

  • Be able to take full responsibility for design decisions and quality of deliverables / work packages;

  • Ability to communicate and manage project milestones and deal with potential issues that may arise.Â

    Desirable experience:
  • Engineering Technician (Eng Tech) and member of a recognised engineering institution;

  • Experience of 3D modelling;

  • Experience of rail design delivery and working to Network Rail BIM standards;

  • Experience working in a design and build environment;

  • Experience in a multi-disciplinary project environment.Â
