Senior Change and Delivery Officer
Waverley Court

Salary: £44,257 - £52,373
Hours: 36 per week

We’re looking for a creative programme manager to support the reform of Edinburgh’s community planning partnership. You’ll be based in the Chief Executives Directorate and working in a small but fast paced strategy team.

The team is responsible for developing and driving public sector reform in key priority areas for the city such as, sustainably, poverty and community planning. We are now working to deliver a programme of work to strengthen the role of the community planning partnership and ensure data driven, joined-up decision making. You’ll directly support the Chief Executive to chair the newly formed management group which will be used to develop a fresh local outcome improvement plan and performance framework for the city. In additional to being programme manager for the partnership, the successful candidate will also be responsible for the Council’s commitment to empowering communities through approaches such as participatory budgeting. .

While the job description represents the general expectations of a Grade 8 Officer within the Chief Executives team, the successful individual will ideally have:

• experience in the development and delivery of multi-partner projects within dynamic and politically challenging environments

• a knowledge of community planning in both theory and practice

• experience of creating structures and governance to support seniors to drive forward a reform agenda

• an open mindset and ability to bring colleagues together to work together collaboratively on problems

The successful candidate will have a fantastic opportunity to play a crucial role at the heart of the capital city of Scotland, ensuring that the City of Edinburgh delivers its Business Plan and will play a significant role in reshaping Edinburgh's approach to community planning and empowerment.

We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.

As part of our goal to improve our organisational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure that we’re bringing the best people into our roles, not just in their skills and experience but also in their approach to work.

To help achieve this, we’re changing the way we interview and assess candidates by moving from a competency-based interview approach to a behavioural and technical (skills for the job) based approach. This new way of interviewing will allow us to assess how you think and how you would bring Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility into your ways of working.

You can find out more on Our Behaviours web page Our Behaviours – The City of Edinburgh Council

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
