Full Job Description
NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a fulltime Senior Charge Nurse (SCN), based within Campbeltown Community Hospital in Kintyre.
As the SCN, you will be at the heart of patient care within our A&E and acute ward.
The A&E department sees an average of 15 presentation per day and the ward has 15 beds, medical input to both areas is provided by local GPs.
You will oversee the ward environment, ensuring the highest standards of care, and lead a dedicated team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.
With your strong leadership, you will coordinate patient care, manage operations, and optimise resources to create an efficient, compassionate, and supportive environment.
This is an opportunity to become part of a team which is responsive to the needs of the population and dedicated to providing the best possible patient care to the Kintyre community.
This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the local community and shape the future of health services in the area.
Kintyre is a beautiful, windswept peninsula in Argyll and Bute on the west coast of Scotland.
With stunning beaches and beautiful countryside, it affords great opportunities for outdoor pursuits, the islands of Islay, Gigha, Arran and Jura are within easy reach. Campbeltown itself is a three hour drive from central Scotland and has a small airport with daily flights to Glasgow.
Informal enquiries and visits would be welcomed.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
