Full Job Description

Job –Senior Civils Estimator

Location – Glasgow

Type – Permanent

 

About the Role

As a Senior Civils Estimator, you'll play a critical role in delivering accurate and timely estimates across a range of clean and wastewater projects, including capital delivery works, frameworks, and competitive tenders. You will report directly to the Regional Managing Estimator and work closely with the senior management team. Your work will involve collaborating with suppliers, subcontractors, and operational colleagues, ensuring that bids and contracts are cost-effective and meet business needs.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide estimating support for bids and contracts, ensuring robust pricing, risk management, and governance.
  • Advise senior management on commercial influences and risks associated with bids.
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to gather accurate cost data and ensure terms align with client requirements.
  • Prioritise workload and support the team to meet deadlines.
  • Engage with key stakeholders, including customers and operational teams, to influence decisions and improve performance.
  • Visit project sites to understand the scope of works.

Background:

  • Essential: Experience in the water industry (both infra and non-infra environments), with experience in both water and wastewater projects preferred.
  • Strong commercial and contractual knowledge, particularly in NEC contracts (Options A to E).
  • Ability to manage workloads, delegate tasks, and influence change.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Familiarity with estimating tools, software, and Microsoft Office packages.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Cost & Planning, or similar (or equivalent industry experience).
  • Knowledge of estimating software such as Conquest, Causeway, or Candy.
