Full Job Description
We're seeking a highly skilled and motivated Database Engineer to join our dynamic Service Run team. As a Database Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our applications and IT systems. Your primary responsibility will be to implement and manage database solutions, analyse data, and collaborate with other teams to address related issues. The ideal candidate will be passionate about improving system performance, delivering efficient, reliable, and effective database solutions. This role covers a shift working pattern you'll be expected to work across 12 hours shifts that are Monday to Friday 7am to 3pm. 9am to 5pm and 11am to 7pm. Outside of those hours you'll be expected to provide an On Call capability on a rota. That will ensure we have a 24 x 7hrs and 365 days a year capability. Within ECP we look after >100 applications hosted on a variety of technologies. To be very familiar with Economic Crime Prevention and Payments Industry would be an advantage. What you'll do The primary functions will be to provide database/application administration and support as and when required.
- Management of Oracle, SQL Server, and Postgres Databases.
- Administration of applications.
- Providing DBA and Application support services.
- Setup, management, and support of databases and applications.
- Producing standard documentation and procedures.
- Problem management, working to eliminate repeat incidents.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Available to work and operate within call-out structure for out-of-hours and some weekend working requirements.
- Ensure data integrity, security, and performance of databases.
- Line management of two other database engineers, provided coaching, support and direction.
Database administration, upgrades, performance tuning and backup/recovery. - An ability to provide application services, upgrades, and administration.
- Analytical and organised.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- An adaptable attitude, wanting to provide a good service.
- Good communication and client facing/customer service skills.
- Support and provide technical advice on these technologies and promote best practise to the wider team. It would be great if you also had
- Oracle Accreditation.
- SQL Server Accreditation.
- Postgres Accreditation
- Experience with SQL Server 2012 + would be beneficial.
