Job Title - Senior Design Engineer

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Design Engineer to play a crucial role in the development process, from initial feasibility studies to final construction. The position involves delivering cost-effective, practical, and compliant engineering solutions, managing external consultants, and working collaboratively with internal teams to ensure project success.
The role also includes providing expert guidance on design and technical challenges while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. This is a chance to contribute to innovative, high-quality developments and help shape vibrant, sustainable communities.
Responsibilities:
- Implement CDM/EMS regulations, identifying and mitigating foreseeable risks in designs.
- Ensure full compliance with designer responsibilities under CDM regulations.
- Maintain a working knowledge of environmental constraints and ensure appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Support teams with CDM/EMS processes from project inception through completion.
- Oversee site designs and provide engineering expertise during planning and building regulation approvals.
- Manage external consultants and liaise with statutory bodies to resolve technical issues.
- Evaluate and appraise new development opportunities, ensuring engineering solutions align with project goals.
- Maintain accurate fee trackers and prepare monthly cost movement reports.
- Support project teams in the preparation of planning submissions and community engagement activities.
Background:
- Must have experience working in housebuilding.
- Proven experience in civil engineering for residential developments, including roads, sewers, foundations, and utilities.
- Degree or equivalent in engineering, ideally accredited by RICS or ICE.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, PDS, Windes, and Microdrainage would be beneficial.
- Strong understanding of technical and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to interpret geotechnical and environmental reports and develop practical solutions.
- Expertise in optimising design value and understanding the impact of design changes on project outcomes.
