Hourly rate of pay: £18.70 - £20.91

Maternity cover until 19th December 2025.
This is a 52-week non-sessional post i.e. it will include working during the school holidays.

Days and Hours of Work:
Monday, 08:00-13:30
Tuesday, 08:00-18:00
Wednesday, 08:00-13:30
Thursday, 08:00-13:00
Friday, 08:00-18:00
To start 6th January 2025.

Aberlady is a seven class school with a 48 week model nursery offering two sessions per week (Monday-Tuesday/Wednesday-Thursday and alternate Fridays) in a semi-rural location situated on the coastline of East Lothian.  We are firmly part of the local community we serve.  We benefit from a very supportive parent council and forum.  Staff contribute to the wider life of the school and are passionate in their own professional learning. We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Early Years Practitioner to cover a maternity leave post temporarily until December 2025.  The post will include leading our nursery team and working closely with the Head Teacher, and Quality Assurance staff from East Lothian Early Years Team. 

Job Details

To work as part of and supervise on a day to day basis, a team of early learning and childcare practitioners, in delivering a high quality child centred service which supports the needs of children and families and enables each child to achieve their potential within a caring, safe and welcoming environment.

Job Requirements

Qualifications
You must be educated to HNC level in Early Education and Childcare or hold SNNB/HNC/SVQ3 qualifications in Childcare/Education or equivalent and be able to evidence additional learning and knowledge of current practice and legislation in relation to Early Learning and Childcare.

SSSC registration
SSSC registration is an essential requirement of this role. If you are appointed and are not already a member of the relevant section of the SSSC Register, you will be required to apply for registration within 3 months of your start date to ensure that you are registered within the required 6 months.

PVG/Disclosure Requirements
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.

All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups will be required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
