Based in either our Aberdeen or London offices on a hybrid working arrangement, (optional remote working may be considered), you'll join a diverse group of Master Mariners and Marine, Electrical and Control System engineers providing advisory and consultancy services, in marine risk management, to a diverse range of clients. As a Senior Electrical and Control Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering technical work, managing projects, whilst also supporting and mentoring other members of our team.

Your expertise will be invaluable in helping shape our team's approach to creating innovative solutions for our clients, defining our future strategy, and enhancing our capabilities to identify opportunities for wider integration of our services. You'll also work closely with our business development team, contributing to winning new business with existing and potential clients, developing proposals, bidding for contracts, attending client meetings and building relationships with key stakeholders.

This role requires a variety of skills , you'll be supported by people who want you to thrive, develop and embrace new challenges.
You will be given varied opportunities, which include:

  • Conduct FMEA analysis and proving trials for DP vessels and Industrial Mission critical systems (DP, pipelay, cablelay, ballast, crane, drilling etc.).

  • Perform Annual DP trials, audits, and assist with vessel assurance activities on vessels at sea.

  • Conduct risk assessment, feasibility and operability studies for Greenhouse Gas emission reduction activities.

  • Create DP Operations manuals

  • Conduct incident investigations and assist in return to work activities

  • Create an impact on the bigger challenges by assisting stakeholders reach their Greenhouse Gas emission reduction, Decarbonisation, and Incident Free operation targets.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a proven track record of delivering quality results, along with a combination of some of the following skills:

  • Honours Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Cybernetics, Robotics Engineering or equivalent (HNC/HND) combined with relevant industry experience.

  • Demonstrable experience in engineering consultancy, with a background in oil and gas and / or offshore Wind.

  • Knowledge of risk analysis techniques like Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP), Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), Monte Carlo Simulations and more.

  • An in-depth knowledge of all these subjects is not expected but an understanding of how and where these techniques are utilized will be useful.

  • Hands on experience with electrical and control systems of DP vessels like DP Control System, Power Management System, Propulsion Systems, Safety Systems, and IM equipment.

  • Proficiency in analysing control/electrical systems and interpreting technical drawings and schematics.

  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to plan, coordinate, and execute key activities proactively across multiple projects simultaneously, whilst maintaining high performance and quality under pressure.

  • Curious and proactive, with a solution-oriented approach, demonstrating an ability to manage, develop, and lead projects independently with minimum supervision.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
