Salary: £42,717 - £50,500
Hours: 36 per week

Executive Services, within Customer and Digital Services, provides business services and administrative support to the Council’s Executive and Service Directors across all Council directorates.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team as a Senior Executive Assistant. This post will provide support to the Executive Director of Corporate Services.

This will be hybrid role, with on-site work based at our Waverley Court office.

Applicants should have experience of:

  • supporting Senior Managers
  • dealing with competing demands and priorities
  • dealing with highly confidential and sensitive information always ensuring discretion and confidentiality
  • managing a political landscape
  • leading and delivering projects
  • planning and horizon scanning.

As the role will work in close partnership with colleagues across the Directorate, the ability to build trust, forge effective working relationships and develop a good working knowledge of the services the team supports is crucial. You will also be proactive in challenging current practices and identifying opportunities to do things in a better way.

This post requires a Basic Disclosure check.

The post will be based at Waverley Court; however, the role may require the successful candidate to work at any Council location. The role is subject to flexible working arrangements and hybrid working.

We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.

As part of our goal to improve our organisational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure that we’re bringing the best people into our roles, not just in their skills and experience but also in their approach to work.

To help achieve this, we’re changing the way we interview and assess candidates by moving from a competency-based interview approach to a behavioural and technical (skills for the job) based approach. This new way of interviewing will allow us to assess how you think and how you would bring Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility into your ways of working.

You can find out more on Our Behaviours web page Our Behaviours – The City of Edinburgh Council

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
