Brockwell's focus is on a range of renewable or low carbon technologies, including Energy-from-Waste (EfW), onshore wind, offshore wind, as well as investment opportunities around other exciting technologies such as solar photovoltaics, battery storage and hydrogen, to support the government's drive towards a low-carbon economy. Brockwell is currently developing a pipeline of ~ 3GW of generation capacity across onshore wind, solar and BESS as it transitions towards becoming an IPP

Reporting to the Technical Director the Senior Grid Connections responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Being the go-to person for grid capacity availability assessment to inform projects origination decisions
- Managing the grid connection process from origination to project energisation
- Provide grid related technical design inputs to support the project development process from end to end.
Key Tasks and Requirements
- Lead the grid connection process for renewable energy projects from concept through to commissioning
- Conduct network analysis at both distribution and transmission levels to identify potential locations with available capacity.
- Liaise with DNOs and National Grid, preparing, submitting and reviewing grid connection applications
- Provide technical due diligence to grid offers, including optimization of connection solutions, cost assessments, and curtailment evaluations.
- Keep the company appraised of trends and developments in DNOs and NGESO policies and requirements impacting grid connections opportunities.
- Devise, create and maintain a database for Grid analysis, connection assessments and capacity analysis'
- Implement new connection solutions arising from DNOs/NGESO policy changes and changing industry standards.
- Provide grid inputs such as substation design, cable routes and trenches design, cost assessments, and securities for financial modelling and planning purposes.
- Develop and maintain excellent relationships with the DNOs and NGESO design and delivery teams ensuring projects progress smoothly through the project lifecycle.
- Manage ICP tender processes including establishing scope of work, reviewing responses and selecting contractors
- Develop and maintain relationships with industry leading ICPs
Requirements:
- Electrical engineering background with electrical or engineering degree qualifications (Masters preferred) or relevant industry experience.
- 5+ years' experience working in a similar role for a renewable energy developer or working for a DNO, National Grid or a technical consultancy.
- Strong knowledge of the UK utility or Renewable Energy sectors
- Strong knowledge of requirements for grid code compliance, DNOs/NGESO connection procedures and administrative authorisations required for connecting renewable plants in the UK market.
- Ability to explore and understand the challenges and opportunities in the UK Grid Infrastructure at both Distribution and Transmission level.
- Established network of contacts across the DNOs, National Grid and ICP environment.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to summarise complex problems and present them succinctly.
- Ability to work full-time in the UK
- Knowledge of PowerFactory, DIgSILENT or similar modelling tools and their use for Grid Analysis based on DNO/TO Datasets
- Competency in design software such as CAD, PVCase, PVSyst, etc.
- Commercially astute.
- Valid UK driving license
