Senior Occupational Therapist, Adult Locality Service

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.

The Community Rehabilitation Service provides specialist rehabilitation across East Renfrewshire HSCP.  The multi-disciplinary team consists of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics, speech and language, nursing, and rehabilitation support worker intervention. The Service operates over two geographic teams in Eastwood and Barrhead localities, and provides supported discharge from Acute settings and coordinated assessment and treatment within an individuals own home (or other appropriate community or workplace setting) for community referrals to maximise health gain and independence.

Clinicians work as part of a flexible and responsive team which aims to provide a single point of access to assessment of need followed by time-limited and appropriate rehabilitation. Close collaboration exists with service users, carers, primary and secondary healthcare, social work services and the voluntary sector.

The postholder requires to have a Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy and current Health and Care Professions Council registration. The post holder will have worked at a senior level within the profession, for substantial years, which will include significant specialist experience across Rehabilitation and Adaptation specialties.

The postholder also requires to have post graduate training in relevant speciality, or experience equivalent to a Masters Level including post graduate courses relevant to clinical speciality. A current full driving licence is required for this post.
