Full Job Description

Senior Project Accountant job (FTC) for a 15-month period with a successful Scottish headquartered organisation.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting Project Managers with the overall project accounting from start to finish of the project and taking ownership of the financial systems required for this
  • Producing monthly profit and loss reports for projects and assisting Project Managers with the production of monthly project variances of actuals v budgets and forecasts
  • Help improve the measurement of projects profitability at the tender/feasibility stage and ensure project management fees and recovery of costs has been maximised
  • Assisting with the preparation of quarterly P&L and Capex forecasts and cashflow projections
  • Assist with the preparation of business cases for board approval for major project and capital spend
  • Help to educate and encourage all staff to take more responsibility over the financial aspects of the projects that they are doing and the overhead costs that they are incurring
  • Establish key policy documentation and be the key point of contact for Project Managers on what can and cannot be capitalised
  • Offering professional judgement on projects financial matters and advising on ways of improving business performance
  • To assist the Finance Controller with any ad hoc requests

The Individual:

  • Qualified Accountant (ICAS, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW or equivalent)
  • Strong business partnering experience
  • Experience in working in a capital investment appraisal environment, who has the technical knowledge and capabilities to be the SME on fixed assets/depreciation within the Financial Accounting function
  • Available to start mid-November 2024
