Job Title: Senior Projects Control Engineer

Location: Peterhead

Project: Eastern Green Link 2

 

 

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Projects Control Engineer to work on the Eastern Green Link 2 project in Peterhead.   EGL2 will unlock the rich renewable energy capacity of Scotland and significantly increase the UK’s capacity to deliver clean energy for around two million homes in the UK.   Your expertise will be key to the success of this venture, and they are eager to welcome an experienced professional to their team.

 

Our client is eager to speak with candidates who are highly proficient in project management, planning, scheduling, and coordination, and who possess a strong understanding of the commercial aspects of the project.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client-facing role: You will lead the project controls, ensuring timely and accurate reporting on project costs and schedules.
  • Project Control Plan: Create and implement the Project Control Execution Plan, gathering information from contracts, strategy, and project details.
  • Reports: Develop regular and ad-hoc reports, tracking project progress, identifying variances, and suggesting corrective actions.
  • Support Teams: Assist the commercial team and planning engineers in setting up work and cost breakdown structures and performance baselines.
  • Monitor Scope: Track project scope and performance, identifying any issues and reporting them to management.
  • Performance Reports: Produce weekly and monthly reports showing planned, actual, and forecast performance compared to targets.
  • Financial Control: Manage financial aspects, including earned value, cost trends, and forecasting to ensure the project remains profitable.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with Planning and Commercial Managers to align project controls with overall goals.
  • Project Changes: Help manage changes to the project, predicting their impact on time and cost.
  • Contract Compliance: Ensure project controls comply with FIDIC EPC and NEC contract requirements.
  • Feedback: Regularly provide insights on project performance to help meet targets.

 

Key Requirements:

  • Experience as a Project Controller, Project Manager, Project Planner or similar role on large infrastructure or energy projects.
  • Strong knowledge of project management techniques (e.g., Earned Value Management, planning).
  • Familiarity with NEC and FIDIC contracts.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel and Power BI.
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting financial and scheduling data.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to work with people at all levels.
  • Experience managing cost and planning functions on long-term projects.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience on large energy or civil infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of project controls in energy facilities.
  • Awareness of company policies and procedures.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Project Control certifications.
  • 5+ years of experience in project controls or related roles.
