Are you a Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to work for one of the biggest names in the industry?


Pettigrew Recruitment Group is delighted to be showcasing this Senior / Quantity Surveyor role for one of the country’s leading house builders operating across West Central Scotland.


Operating from their brand new offices at Eurocentral, Holytown, this developer is hugely respected across the housebuilding world, with an accolade of awards in recent years for their commitment to delivering homes of the highest quality. Joining them as a Senior / Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial and surveying responsibilities for allocated developments effectively managing costs for the site, and ensuring targets are met.


Reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager, your daily remit will include:


  • Managing all cost control procedures, and working within the guidelines and procedures set out in group policies for allocated developments.
  • Compilation of all weekly, monthly and quarterly reports as required.
  • Have awareness of new materials and methods of construction as well as a sound knowledge of latest regulations, codes of practise and NHBC requirements.
  • Responsibility for all cost control procedures, including managing and controlling the budget and valuations.
  • Provide site start & budget, liaising with all relevant departments timeously.
  • Monitor budget control throughout development; and manage cost overruns within contingency levels.
  • Analyse and report on costs and cash flow using the support systems available.
  • Prepare tenders and procure sub-contractors, goods and materials for developments.
  • Process subcontract orders, payments and variations, using company payment system.
  • Evaluate and agree variations and instructions, ensuring that approval is obtained prior to agreement of variations in excess of the respective allowances.
  • Attend all project and team meetings as required, and present the commercial position to the meeting.
  • Compile and present valuations at divisional valuation meetings.
  • Mentoring junior members of staff.

Key qualities we are looking for:


  • Experience using COINS software or equivalent.
  • Highly numerate with excellent attention to detail.
  • Methodical, conscientious and organised, works to deliver high standards.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Articulate, hard-working and able work in a fast paced environment.
  • Confidence working with a range of stakeholders and build effective working partnerships.
  • Tenacity, drive and enthusiasm.
  • Team player.
