Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Dounreay
Project: ASTI (Power Transmission Framework for SSE)
Company Overview:
Our client, a leading civil engineering contractor, is looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a permanent basis. This role supports the new multi-million-pound ASTI project for SSE, located in Dounreay, from the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase through to completion. This is an exciting chance to shape a high-impact power transmission project from the very start.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage financial aspects of substation projects, adhering to budgets while upholding quality.
- Lead contract management tasks, including negotiations, administration, and dispute resolution.
- Provide strategic commercial advice to enhance project profitability and mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
- Conduct cost analysis and forecasting for decision-making support.
- Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors in their career development.
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure contract compliance and timely deliveries.
- Prepare and submit financial reports (monthly, quarterly assessments, and payment applications).
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities to boost project efficiency.
- Maintain thorough documentation and financial records for all contracts and project finances.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor in the construction or infrastructure sector.
- Strong contract management skills, ideally with NEC contracts or similar.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build solid relationships.
- Financially savvy, with strong analytical and detail-oriented abilities.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
- RICS membership is advantageous but not essential.
