Full Job Description

The Senior Risk & Control Specialist within the Business Control Team would be responsible for supporting and delivering excellent customer experiences by applying expertise to design, develop and implement best practise risk and control management across the team. The successful candidate will join an exciting, motivated, and high performing team who really make a difference to Making our Customers Happier about Money.

What you'll be doing
Supporting the business to maintain compliance with Risk & Policy Frameworks including Risk Profiling, Control Effectiveness, Key Indicators, periodic business scorecard and other submissions including the provision of appropriate and timely analysis and reporting to enable senior management accountability for the risk profile.
Responsible for managing competing priorities and interests, operationalising the effective management of risk within CO and will make appropriate recommendations to support front line teams by investigating queries or anomalies to reach a satisfactory conclusion.
Supporting and co-ordinating actions to identify, manage and mitigate any control weaknesses effectively that could impact on the risk profile of the Business Unit
Working collaboratively with the CO teams, supporting the proactive development and implementation of risk procedures and routines to ensure that operational control weaknesses inherent in existing processes are identified, evaluated, and managed in all areas of operations.
Working closely with the wider central Controls Office functions to ensure consistent promotion to adopt the consistent approach to risk management practices.
Supporting the Business Control Risk & Control Manager in the management of stakeholder relationships across CO, and with our partners in COO, 2nd Line Risk and 3rd Line Audit.

Financial Services (FS) risk or audit professional with previous experience in a related role at similar level.
Demonstrable success in building effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders at function or divisional level.
Proven business acumen with strong knowledge of Financial Services and the FS risk profiling.
Effective facilitation and influencing skills.

It's a bonus if you have but not essential
Good knowledge of the regulatory environment facing the FS sector
Recognised risk or audit qualification(s) (eg, Institute of Risk Management).
