Full Job Description

This role will start within the pre-construction and planning phase to assist the project team and align constructability for the duration of the project, on what will be the largest AIS substation in Scotland upon completion. During the construction phase: To be in charge of site operations, directing and organising site activities to ensure that the planned work is delivered safely and on time; and monitoring that performance meets recognized standards of productivity, quality and compliance with essential health and safety provisions. Operational leadership, project delivery teams, internal reporting. External - Clients, project stakeholder, sub-consultants/subcontractors, enforcement agencies, local planning authorities & statutory bodies.

  • Understand the Company Health & Safety and Environmental (SHE) Policies and Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations and ensure the requirements are implemented.
  • Manage compliance to CDM regulations on site.
  • Lead and motivate a team of Sub-Contractors to deliver all aspects of planning and operations
  • Deliver the planned work safely and on time, adhering to the requirements of the client and Burns & McDonnell
  • Manage roster for the staff under their management
  • Resource suitably competent staff to complete activities
  • Undertake detailed site visits
  • Manage accurate records of site resources, materials and plant. Provide daily resource sheets, weekly plant returns, weekly materials returns and subcontract performance reports
  • Produce reports or provide information in a timely manner
  • Attend and cascade briefings as directed and in a timely manner
  • Perform On Call duties as directed
  • Manage fluidity tasks to ensure work can be executed on time and without issue
  • Manage customers, clients, local authorities and other interested third parties regarding past, present or future works
  • Provide sufficient and timely supervision, assessment and coaching to ensure sub-contractors are performing to agreed production levels
  • Manage quality checks are completed in line with contract specification and contract statement of requirements
  • Manage all necessary and appropriate Tool Box Talks, Briefings and other communications
  • Comply with the relevant Company HSQE and welfare policy provisions
  • Manage client and ensure all agreed KPIs are met or exceeded
  • Ensure operative records are accurate and kept up to date each week
  • Provide operational and functional management advice on the practical implementation of the company's Environmental policies and processes including external stakeholders such as customers if necessary.
  • Manage the investigation of accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences, near misses and other incidents.
  • Promote best practice, capture best practice and ensure it is fed-back into the business.
  • Set standards and lead by example in health, safety, quality & environmental management.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, development, training, and retention of staff.
  • Responsible for conducting performance evaluations for department staff.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the department.
  • Responsible for interpreting the organization's policies, purposes, and goals to staff.
  • Responsible for overall QA/QC process adherence.
  • Enforce compliance with company and site safety policies.
  • Responsible for diversity initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards

    Higher National Diploma in related Engineering or Construction field and 8 years experience working within HV sector, 3 years Site Management of HV Substation construction Required or
  • Higher National Certificate in related Engineering or Construction field and 9 years experience working within HV sector, 3 years Site Management of HV substation construction Required or
  • General Certificate of Secondary Education and 10 years Required
  • Varied knowledge of substation equipment from various OEMs
  • Must have the right interpersonal skills and communication skills to build a culture of trust with the site team.
  • Must have strong LV & HV knowledge
  • The ability to thrive in pressure situations.
  • The ability to empathise, communicate and influence stakeholder and the Contract Team.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and time management skills.
  • Be able to work on your own initiative.
  • Computer literate.
  • Ability to lead and motivate people
  • Must have commercial awareness and understand the effect of site-based activities on the project's financial performance.
  • Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively, particularly to external parties such as the client, their customers and local authorities
  • Must have the skills and confidence to supervise and coordinate site requirements and tasks
  • Must have an understanding / knowledge of the client's Transmission procedures
  • Must have a strong understanding of engineering drawings and the management of drawing systems
