Full Job Description

A permanent vacancy has arisen for a Senior Social Worker within West Dunbartonshire Council's HSCP Family Placement Team. The successful candidate will manage a team of six social workers to undertake assessments and support them to manage West Dunbartonshire Council adopters and facilitate the running and management of the Adoption Panel. They will require to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be solution focused and able to work autonomously as well as being part of a team. The position entails working closely with the manager of the Fostering Service, colleagues across childcare services and liaising with multiple agencies such as Health, Police and Education. This is a registered service which is inspected regularly and the successful candidate would become the registered manager for our Adoption Service. The successful candidate will have a knowledge and understanding of all relevant legislation, policies and procedure in relation to adoption and aspire to drive forward and develop the adoption service. It is essential that the applicants know and understand the commitment to The Promise to enable them to keep children at the focus of our service and to ensure their voices and views are represented within it., This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children & Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
