Justice Social Work is recruiting to a Senior Social Worker to manage the community Early Interventions team. The team is made up of paraprofessionals who deliver front-line justice social work services across the whole of the region. The senior social worker will be expected to travel across the region to be available to staff both east and west. The larger portion of work is in the east of the region, but we are flexible regarding the base of the senior social worker.

 

The core duties of the team include:

 

  • Provision of social work services to the Courts
  • Supervision of low intensity community payback orders
  • Bail supervision
  • Delivery of Structured Deferred Sentences
  • Delivery of Diversion from prosecution

 

The major duties to be covered by the Senior Social Worker, will include but not be exclusive to:

 

  • statutory case management responsibility according to the departmental delegations
  • Allocation of work
  • To chair meetings
  • To attend case reviews in a management capacity
  • To ensure that departmental policy and procedures are adhered to
  • To ensure that quality assurance and performance management tasks/data are maintained
  • To ensure best practice and standards are adhered to in the supervision of professional staff
  • To keep updated on current evidenced based best practice and to act as a source of professional advice for the team
  • To assistant in co-ordinating the training and professional development of staff.
  • To alert the locality Manger as required reference, complex case, significant operational and/or staff issues.
  • To take responsibility for the health and safety of staff as delegated.

 

Candidates should hold a relevant social work qualification and ideally be educated to degree level or equivalent.

 

 

A post qualified qualification in leadership and management or equivalent evidence of relevant post qualification learning is essential. Candidates must have a minimum of three years post qualification social work experience.

 

Candidates will ideally have experience of Justice Social Work or an ability to demonstrate relevant knowledge. You should be able to demonstrate leadership knowledge and skills in either an informal or formal capacity and have the personal attributes to motivate, enable and support a team. Candidates should also have knowledge of effective performance management. The successful candidate will be a member of Justice Social Work management team and as such will be expected to collaborate with other managers. Therefore, excellent interpersonal and collective problem-solving skills are essential. A degree of budget oversight in relation to their team will also be expected.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
