Salary: £42,717 - £50,550
Hours: 36 per week

Edinburgh Justice Services are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join us as a Senior Social Worker in our Justice Practice Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to work within an experienced, professional and dedicated management team.

Edinburgh Justice Services are committed to providing high quality services while ensuring a compassionate approach to service users and supporting staff wellbeing. We offer a high level of training to support continuous professional development and to deliver a broad range of services and interventions, including established, accredited, group work programmes and we are implementing Trauma Informed Care approach.

The Senior Social Worker is accountable to the Justice Practice Team Leaders and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • ensuring the team provides reports and assessments for Court and the Parole Board; provides Throughcare for those in custody and the community,
  • undertaking quality assurance to ensure a high quality of practice is maintained and adherence to the Council’s statutory obligations, policies and procedures;
  • providing professional support, supervision and leadership to a group of staff,
  • maintaining a direct involvement in social work practice;
  • contributing to multi agency risk assessment/management and public protection.

Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, an understanding of National Outcomes and Standards and public protection, and be willing to work in a dynamic environment.

Candidates will have a degree in Social Work and be registered, or eligible to register, with the SSSC.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
